30th Anniversary Reminder

As you all know by now our 30th Anniversary http://www.kilkennyphoto.net/?cat=30 is just around the corner.

The images for the contemporary section of the exhibit have been selected, but if you missed the deadline, please submit to either Richie or myself as either 6×4 prints, emailed, uploaded to Dropbox or on USB / CD by tonight’s meeting at the very latest.

We continue to urgently seek images that have been previously exhibited either in our annual exhibit or in competition by current or past members for the retro section.

The only qualifying criteria for the retro section is; images that have been previously exhibited, anytime from the beginning until the present, by either a past or a current a KPS member.

Check the spare room, the attic, back and top of the wardrobe and  under the bed 🙂 and bring your findings along to the meeting tonight please.

KPS 30th Anniversary

The KPS dinner for our 30th Anniversary is on Saturday November 16th at 8.30 in the Pembroke Hotel and a room is available from Thursday of that week for any exhibitions

Following on from our meeting last night regarding the KPS 30th Anniversary, the final submission date for images is Thursday, Oct 17th.

All KPS members are invited to submit up to 10 images for the event and exhibition.

Ideally, images should be of Kilkenny city & county and include people to give them a social context.

They can be submitted to either myself or Richie Dwyer, on or before Oct 17th, either printed on 6×4, on CD, USB, or emailed to either of us.  Alternatively, I have made a folder available in Dropbox, I will email an invite to this folder to everybody participating in the project.

Last night, we discussed uploading to a Dropbox public folder but as everybody would have read / write access, there’s always the possibility of files being accidentally deleted.

I don’t have everybody’s email address so if you haven’t yet received your invite to Dropbox, please let me know at the weekly meeting.

KPS 30th Anniversary exhibition – plan to have your images included

Members will be aware that Richie Dwyer is coordinating the KPS 30th anniversary celebration events, which will take place later this year. These will include an exhibition of members photos with the theme “Kilkenny”. You’re encouraged to participate by capturing images from the city and county that convey a social environment message. Please include people going about their everyday activities and other aspects of social life to help anchor the images in a current historical context. The reason for this is that it is intended to archive the exhibition to provide a historical record for future generations.

An “introduction” page for use by members when the are photographing the public has been distributed. It should help explain to people you approach to photograph, the purpose behind the photos. This will help to “break the ice” and allay and suspicions on the part of the subjects.  Members should also carry their KPS membership cards for the same purpose.

The images for the exhibition will be selected by Richie and a panel of other long standing KPS members.
