“I’m writing in hopes of interesting either your camera club, or an individual in it to participate in providing photographs for a children’s picture book. The book is intended to provide comfort to children who have been traumatized.”
This request for photographs to illustrate a book for children was sent to Kilkenny Photographic Society. The full text of the email can be downloaded here >childrens book<
Some member/members may be interested in this project. However, the author (Michael Resman) is not known to us and anyone interested should first check his bona fides etc. His books can be found on Amazon.com
Yulefest is Kilkenny’s new Christmas festival and is being funded primarily by Kilkenny Co. Co. It will run each weekend from Friday 2nd to Sunday 18th December. The purpose is to market all Christmas events, concerts, music, craft, Santa experiences that are already of a high standard taking place in Kilkenny. Kilkenny Chamber, Local Enterprise Office and Kilkenny Tourism are also supporting the initiative. It is expected that Yulefest will grow each year attracting locals, visitors and tourists to Kilkenny thus boosting the local economy at a time of the year where businesses need to extend their trade.
The Yulefest committee is inviting members of Kilkenny Photographic Society to become involved by submitting images of Yulefest events. The images should reflect the theme of Yulefest which is about showcasing all that’s special about Christmas in and around Kilkenny. Attention to medieval backdrop is essential i.e. The Castle/Rothe House/Butler Gardens, along with the side streets, i.e. Butter Slip, Kieran Street. Broad categories for entry are : craft, events, performances, food, Santa, Christmas lights, new reindeer props and backdrop of Kilkenny Castle. City AND county should be reflected. The idea is to capture a bank of images that can be used for social media purposes and submission to press. They only need a simple caption, the name of event and location. Check the Yulefest programme www.yulefestkilkenny.ie where you can see the range of events and plan from there.
The closing date is 7th January – to allow members tend to their own commitments over Christmas period. Entries should be sent to: Yulefest@kilkenncoco.ie (medium resolution is fine for judging purposes). With the photo submit your name, contact details, caption and location of photograph(s).
There will be a €300 prize from White’s pharmacy and other prizes.
