The following is an update regarding the 2014 National Nature Competition  from John Donelly, Secretary SACC

Dear SACC Club Representative,

As promised in my correspondence earlier this week this email gives details of theSACC Regional Qualifier for the 2014 IPF National Nature Competition.

The 2014 competition is being held in association with Mahers Photographic, Drogheda on Sunday, January 26th in The Amelian Theatre, St Mary’s Secondary School, Mallow, Co. Cork, hosted by Mallow Camera Club.

This is an individual competition, open to all photographers who are members of clubs affiliated to the SACC and the IPF.

There are a couple of important changes to the competition this year, including the introduction of a new projected category called ‘The Natural World’.  Images in this category only do NOT need to meet the FIAP Nature requirements.  The other change relates to the introduction of advanced/intermediate levels at National Finals.

There are a number of sections in the competition:

Open Sections:

  • Colour Print (FIAP)
  • Projected Image (FIAP)
  • NEW – Projected – The Natural World

Themed Sections:

  • Colour Print – Peatland Ireland (FIAP)
  • Projected Image – Birds Feeding (FIAP)

In addition, the SACC will be awarding certificates for Best Flora, Best Fungi and Best Bug.

The judges for the competition are Mark Sedgwick, FIPF, EFIAP (Celbridge Camera Club) and Jack Malins, ARPS (Wicklow Camera Club).

All images must be entered via Picturk (http://sacc-nature.picturk.com) before midnight on Friday 24 January 2014.  Projected images must be registered and uploaded, while print entries must have their titles entered.  For those not comfortable entering online there is an option to enter on behalf of someone else, or have someone else enter for them.

Prints must have a mount size of 20 X 16 inches (50.8 X 40.6 cm).  Smaller or larger mount sizes will not be accepted.

The above is only a general outline of the competition.  Please go tohttp://sacc.ie/sacc-regional-qualifier-of-ipf-national-nature-competition-2014/ for more details.

The IPF website also has information on the competition http://irishphoto.ie/index.php/2013/11/ipf-national-nature-competition-20132014/.

Each competitor is encouraged to read the rules to ensure that their print entries are properly labelled, digital images uploaded, and that they are competing at the correct level.

The programme for the day will be released closer to the event; please check the SACC website for updates, including directions to the venue.  Signs will be erected at strategic points on approach roads to Mallow on the day.
