Kilkenny Photographic Society’s 33rd Annual Photographic Exhibition got off to a great start last evening, 5th August, when Mayor of Kilkenny, Patrick O’ Neill, officially opened the event in Mac Donagh Junction. A very large gathering of members, exhibitors, family, friends and invited guests were welcomed by Eugene Canning, Chairman of Kilkenny Photographic Society. He thanked all the exhibitors for participating and had a special word of appreciation for the committee members who worked so hard in planning the event. He also thanked the management of the MacDonagh Junction Shopping Centre for providing the venue.
It was also an occasion to present the Photographer of the Year Award. This award is presented at three levels of ability – Novice, Intermediate and Advanced and is judged on the monthly competitions organised by the club. Well done to all the winners. The consensus was that the night was a great success with all present enjoying the displays, the food, the wine and the conversation. The exhibition is open daily to the public until Sunday, 14th August. Don’t forget to call in.
